The 3 Best Traits of a Great Magician
Magicians are entertainers who create magicial illusions for their audiences.
They use tricks, sleight of hand, and other such techniques to deceive their audiences into thinking they have seen supernatural feats when all they have seen sis an illusion.
There are two types of magicians: stage magicians and close-up magicians.
Stage magicians work on a big stage in front of an audience that is usually seated in a theater or auditorium. On the other hand, close-up magicians perform for one person at a time, away from any audience.
A magician's skill can depend on the type of magician they are and the type of performance they do.
But what makes a good magician?
Is it the number of magic effects a magician can perform?
The number of magicians a magician can name?
or being able to link which magician created which magic effect?
Here are the 3 Best Traits of a Great Magician
1. Honesty. Magic is a unique art that can better the lives of others. It can however be used for the wrong reasons. The most important trait every magician should have is honesty.
I've been teaching magic for over 10 years. Many of my clients have been able to use the magic they have learnt in their daily lives - school projects, presentations, career interviews, business pitches, selling houses and more! A huge portion about magic is the ability to help your audiences to focus on what you want them to notice. When utilised in a responsible positive way, it can bring benefit to your audiences and yourself. (Think about focuses on the more positive side of things in life).
2. The Ability To Keep Secrets. We all know there are many people around us who enjoy gossiping and making stories about others. Tell them a secret, and tomorrow everyone around knows what the secret is. But a magician should be different!
A magician must have the ability to keep secrets. If you've been a magician for long enough, you will surely know of an audience or magician who goes about exposing all your magic effects. Maybe it removes their feeling of inferiority, or maybe it makes them feel smarter being the one who knows how the magic effect actually works. However, time tells that only true magicians continue to bring joy and wonder to others. A magician's ability to keep secrets make the magic effect entertaining to non-magicians today, tomorrow, and for the many years to come.
3. Having a mentor. Even kings need advisors... So why not you? In our millionaire master class, we found that every successful person needs a mentor. In fact, mentors depend on other mentors too. That way, we have someone looking out for our weaker sides.
Mentors can however get really costly.
It may be fun looking for "free mentors", but I'm sure you've heard the saying "if you pay peanuts, you get the monkeys". After all, every mentor will need to pay for their bills and survival too isn't it? Don't lose hope... I'll share how you can get help in this area.
Having someone to look at your magic effects and sharing their thoughts on your performance, body movements, words, and routine can help you to be more confident when you are performing in front of non-magicians. After all, non-magicians will often call you out as a cheat when you screw up during your performance. Having a mentor allows you to make mistakes without feeling embarrassed.
A mentor is there to guide you and give you confidence in your performance, not change your whole performance until it is no longer what you enjoy performing.
For that reason, we have live sessions with our clients to help them in their performances. To give them confidence to perform, amaze, and bring smiles and joy to their audience. You can stay updated to our fun live lessons.
At the end of the day, what is most important for us at Hidden Street Magic, is that magic should be a wonderful tool that can be used to better the life of others.
